Today, over one hundred peace activists and locals of the historical city of Konya welcomed the GMJ – Asian Caravan to their abode.

The GMJ – Asian Caravan was received by the locals of the city of Konya near the Mawlana Mausoleum, one of Turkey's largest national landmarks and the burial place  صاهhe city's largest landmark, , historical city of Konya welcomed the GMJ - Asian of the world renowned poet, Rumi. Over one hundred residents of Konya waited over an hour for the arrival of the caravan to their city. Following their arrival, the caravan along with the residents of Konya marched from the Mawlana Mausoleum to the City Center chanting slogans in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

 

Mr. Firooz Mitiborwala, representative for IEC and ICC, was invited to the podium to address the people of Konya. He stated that Palestine has become an element of unity for the people of Asia. In regards to Israel's threats towards the GMJ – Asian Caravan, he stated, "Israel has gone crazy, and they are acting no different than Nazi's. Our response to them is a response of bravery. We are ready for martyrdom for our Palestinian brothers."  The event was followed by inspirational talks by a variety of members of the caravan along with local residents of Konya.

 

The GMJ – Asian Caravan intends to head towards the city of Mercin late tonight, leaving the docks of the city towards Lebanon tomorrow

morning, March 27th, 2012. 25 Pakistani and Afghan who were not able to join the march in Turkey, will join the main team in Lebanon on 29th March
